Yes, it burns calories to sit in there, but does nothing for muscle tone, and can actually be hard on the heart. Don't sit in there for more than 15 minutes at a pop, and stay hydrated.

No, the steam helps remove toxins, relax muscles, bring the blood to the surface of the body to help relieve soreness and stiffness. What you lose is water, but then soon as you drink liquids after wards you gain that right back -plus. You shouldn't stay in the steam room too long if it's a heavy steam, with a light steam you can stay 15 minutes. The advantage of wet heat is that you will feel it when you are getting too much heat, but with dry heat you will not notice and stay too long for your health. But don't be fooled in thinking that your going to lose weight in a steam room - that's not what it's intended for.

Steam rooms do not help lose weight. They remove toxins from your body by sweating. Thats all. If you weight yourself after the steam room and have lost weight you will only gain it back after you drink something.

yes, the room is to sweat body fat away from your body. Stay in there as long as you can, don't over do it. Also, keep a bottle of ice cold water by your side and a towel
