Well, to date there are more Hondas on the road than there are Fords. Also a 5 year old Honda is worth more than a Ford of the same age. If Ford built cars & trucks for the long haul, wouldn't they be in better shape?
* And no - the new mustang is really a ghost of its former glory. I know folks who have older original Mustangs that can easily leave the newer fancy Mustangs in the dust.
* If Fords were made better, I'd like to think that my old 1987 F-150 (which is sitting in a scrapyard somewhere in Belleville, MI w/University of Hawai'i Alumni on the rear window) wouldn't of rusted out so easily. Of the Big 3, Ford trucks attract rust the fastest - regrettably, . . . . sighs.

They both suck to be honest. But Ford isn't what they use to be. Even though they make some nice cars like Jaguar and Lincoln (the motor company does) they aren't up to par..

It doesn't sound like you're asking about corporate ethics but rather their business strategy and execution.

Ford has gone through some ups and downs. Lately, they've been known for their trucks. The F-Series is the best selling truck for 30-years and is the best selling vehicle ahead of the Camry and Accord. Camry is the best selling car.

Ford is a full-line manufacturer, meaning they build everything from small cars to big trucks. Honda only builds cars and a pseudo-truck, the Ridgeline. So you're really comparing apples and oranges.

The Big 3 really just have an image problem...well and a union problem. There are plenty of Fords and GM's I would buy before anything on a Toyota dealer. And other than the Civic which looks pretty cool, the rest of the Honda selection is pretty much the same.

Ok where? Maybe in your area, Here in the south, where I am, you will very rarely see a Honda compared to a Chevy or Ford... Could be the 50 mile track to the nearest dealer may have something to do with it. Could be they are good cars until they break then you will spend the value of the car to get it running again?

Yeah Ford has issues in the rust belt with cars (most car manufacturers do) but I work on and see all makes all day.. I've seen Toyotas at 300k, but I've seen Ford's and chevys at that too.. Just how you maintain them if they will last or not.... The import owner has that pounded into their head, the american owner doesn't want to hear that...

But I agree with the other guy... hey I can make cars too if all I did was 5 car lines that barely change..... (so I would have worked out all problems)

From the very beginning, Fords have always been just cars. The model T was their first car and it was mass produced with the emphasis on getting them on the road rather than quality.

Honda on the other hand, do mass produce, but for some reason there engineering skills seem to be in a different league.
This could be due to cultural differences (i.e. the amount of time the Japanese people spend working).

Fords are good, but Hondas are better.

no chevys rust here in the midwest. If we could pay a union member 5 bucks a day and make the cars with inferior metal like the japs do we could build a better product too If ford wants to do better it needs to be run by FORD not a boeing ex executive. FORD needs to train their employees to be engineers like Japan does Honda turns out 4 engineers to every 1 Ford engineer. thats why their products last longer. run better , get better milage.

this is funny. Were i live its the hondas that rust out faster and are worth nothing when it comes time to trade or replace them.I guess it all comes down to how you take care of the vehicle you own and here its only young kids that are buying hondas.

1. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with corporate ethics. Strategy maybe, but not ethics!

2. They are two different companies so it's not unreasonable to expect that their corporate ethics and strategy would be at least somewhat different.
