I'm a dentist.
It depends on what you mean by "gum disease". And, of course, it depends on what you mean by "people with dentures". Are you referring to people who still have some natural teeth in their mouths, or people who have no natural teeth remaining?
Any tooth in the mouth can have periodontal disease. Obviously, someone without teeth cannot have periodontal disease.
People who wear dentures (complete or partial dentures) can still get diseases of the mucosa and keratinized tissues that support the denture, such as fungal infections, bacterial infections, and inflammatory processes. That's why we recommend to people that they clean their dentures regularly.

if you have a partial denture (meaning ther's teeth that is still in your mouth) has a bigger chance to have gum disease... but then
>if you're talking about full denture? hopefully not. but there is what we called ill-fitting denture that is so tight that your gums are affected... so, i think you can still have gum disease... but if your denture fits perfectly then you will have no problem... but you must make sure that you always clean you denture so that it will minimize the bacterias in there and prevent sores in the gums and if you will not be careful enough it grow bigger...

hey man search clear choice dental, they specialize in dental implants, they have some amazing stories of people that only have like 2 teeth when they go in and then they come out that same day with a full set of teeth, now your problem isnt that bad but youll probably just need 2 porcilin venneers, there fake teeth that they put in by dulling your bone down and drilling this thing in then placing the tooth, only downset is that it costs from 500 too 20000 dollars depending on the nature of your problems, and if your not located around them there is a certain name of the practice that they do im not sure of the name but its on there website, just look for one thats located around you.

yes you can have gum problems when you have dentures.
Take them out every night, clean them good, get your mouth checked by a dentist at regular times, etc.

Sure, especially if they're diabetic or their circulation is otherwise compromised...although it's much easier to have good oral hygeine without any teeth.
