They have not watched very many of his fights. Any one who sees his first fight against Liston, the Folley fight, Terrell, any fight before 1967. They also need to look at the Foreman fight. Foreman's KO power is better than Tyson's and almost equal to Marciano. Ali was in control of that fight from round 1 and he could have knocked Foreman out 3 or 4 rounds before he did but he chose not to. Smitty great question and despite what people may write about you on here from time to time you have great knowledge of boxing and make it interesting for others. So I just wanted to let you know.

No heavyweight boxer past or present is greater than Ali. Ali dominated and cleaned up the heavyweight scene 3 times for 3 different generations. Tyson wouldn't have been able to hang with ali. Tyson would've been mentally messed up from all of Ali's trash talking. Tyson would break under pressure. After his first fight with Frazier, Ali would dominate Marciano and Tyson. Easily. He's too quick and agile. Neither one of them would be able to land flush and get the big one punch knockout that they were both known for. Think, James Tillis was the first person to go the distance with Tyson, giving him competition. Tillis is 100 levels below Ali. So imagine what Ali would do. Rocky was just too flat footed. Ali's jab would've taken care of both of them. Now a Marciano Tyson fight would've been a good one but neither one where on Ali's level.

Muhammad Ali
Total Fights: 67
56-5-0 (37 by KO)
I'm sure they could, if you're referring to the 65-year-old Ali ;P I'm sure they're able to KO him. Just kiddin'...
Well, I suppose being flamboyant such as 'The Greatest' himself has that tendency to make enemies. I may sound a bit biased, but I really think no one could KO Ali in his prime. Even if Rocky Balboa is a real boxer, he wouldn't stand a chance.
It's just that, you don't see a fighter like Ali every century. So maybe people just wonder what it would be like if, let's say; Ali vs Tyson, Ali vs Holyfield, etc etc...

It's all a matter of opinion. Two fighters from across eras will always polarise opinion simply because the question of who was greater is imposible to answer. One can analyse two fighters on their records, on their style, on their opponants, etc, but a definitive answer is impossible. This is why there will always be debate and why sites such as this will always prove to be successful - everyone who has an opinion can now express it.
For what it's worth I think that if Ali fought Marciano and Tyson 10 times each (all at their peaks), there would be 5 wins apiece. (Probably the same with Joe Louis). No-one else from post 1930 comes close to these four.

hola smitty, great question, interesting answers so far. i think people tend to see fighters of their respective eras thru rose colored glasses. others tend to take the view that, because a fighter is undefeated, that that somehow makes him great w/o respect to that fighter's quality of opposition. both are flawed perspectives. both on paper and in practice, ali stands head and shoulders above any other heavyweight, and virtually any other fighter! his era was, by all 'serious' accounts, the toughest in the history of the heavyweight division(the flagship weight class), and he so thoroughly dominated both his eras - the 60's and the 70's. in his first loss to frazier he actually rose in stature. no one else had done that since dempsey lost the long count fight...but these stakes were much higher.
it's no secret that i am probably tyson's last and biggest fan on this site and i, too, worried for ali were the young mike ever to have gotten in the ring w/him...but as one gets older one sees truths maybe they didn't realize, at first. i see now that ali would've man-handled tyson, but it would've been a great fight nonetheless - and who knows, he had the proverbial puncher's chance. so, smitty, boxing purist and educated statistician that you are, don't begrudge us our dream fight outcomes. personally, i think ali would've knocked the snot out of marciano, had they met, and embarrassed him so much, he would've demystified the entire marciano legacy in one night - he was quite good at exposing fighters' weaknesses. that computer fight was a travesty and, unfortunately, a product of the times. yet, even rocky, i'm sure, knew he wouldn't have stood a chance in the ring w/ali. however to all the marciano-philes, far be it from me to pop your balloons. no one can take away rocky's contributions to boxing lore and you are all entitled to your own opinions. at any rate, hope this sheds some kinda light and i invite any/all opposing views!~

i dont know.
they are all spectators. they dont understand that power is no match for quickness and agility. ill admit that tyson does have some strong punches and quick moves but ali is more agile and quick. he could run circles around tyson or marciano.
