The deduction of Social Security is 6.2 % and 1.45% for Medicare. The Federal withholding depends on the number of allowances you claimed on your W-4 form, the frequency of your pay periods and the method your employer uses to calculate withholding. A fair estimate is 10%. Texas does not have state income tax so 17 to 18% should be close.

7.65% for Social Security and Medicare. Everybody pays that on every dollar earned up to the SS cap amount and then 1.45% for Medicare after the SS cap is reached.

The amout taken out for income taxes depends upon your rate of pay and the filing status and how many withholding exemptions you claimed on Form W4. There is no possible way to say what your withholdings would be without knowing that information and there is no meaningful average that you can compare your paycheck to.
