He doesn't have a speech or hearing problem.

Am I right after asking nicely twice to tell him to either stop mumbling or shut the f$^% up.

Because frankly I am getting a little sick of it.

I have spoken to him over and over again. He just says it isn't important.

not if you didn't hear or understand him, he's being rude mumbling

My opinion is that it is not disrespectfuI for you to ask your husband to repeat himself more than twice. That is a weird question you have got. I would say that good and positive communication is very important in a relationship or marriage. Talk to him about that in all seriousness. I think it is ok to tell him to stop mumbling if he has a tendency to mumble, but to tell him to 'shut the f$^% up', as you wrote in your question, is very aggressive and not respectfull at all. I mean it is up to you how you deal with your husband and how your husband deals with you. That is actually nobody else's matter, but decent language and decent expressions are much more helpfull and constructive.

I do that, I mumble. Its not something you can just stop doing, its the way you talk. Maybe if you pay a bit more attention you would be able to hear him better. Or instead of hearing you could actually listen

You seem to have lost the love you had at the start.
Before coming down hard on him, figure out why he talks the way he does.
If it is not a speech impediment or a hearing problem ....sit him down and politely and respectfully discuss matters.
Give him some time to adapt to your request.
Habits don't die overnight.
If, after a reasonable time, there is no improvement, THEN you have authority to think the way you do now.

Sure it's not you with the hearing probolem? My uncle is hard of hearing, denies it, and always says everyone mumbles.

If it's bothering you and he doesn't want to listen then it seems you are losing the battle... Why don't you just not respond? Maybe it will make him turn the volume up without being prompted and this will stop making you look like the nag...

I don't know I do that to my husband all the time and then again he does it to me all the time. But I talk quietly all the time I'm not really outspoken until he won't listen then I become very VOCAL!

It's not a question of being disrepectful, but perhaps if you stopped criticising him and gave him a little boost of confidence, then he would stop mumbling and speak more clearly.

do you think it's disrepsectful of him to ask you to listen and comprehend? maybe you should give that a shot.
