We are re-doing our bathroom but are stuck with a light gray tub. We bought a white pedastal sink and white toilet. Im having trouble selecting a tile. What would people suggest that would bring the grey in, but be a little more modern than just a white tile?

I would use light gray or white tile as the basis with bright blue accent, such as a border of bright blue (think cobalt). Then I would paint the walls cobalt and do a faux finish of crackle in white (cobalt underneath shows through the cracks) and use bright white towels.

Your gray becomes the canvas to highlight the white and blue, which is what I was thinking you were aiming for with the tub.

You can make a wonderful shower curtain by getting a heavy duty plastic curtain at Walmart in white -- get some metal paint (not spray paint, it works on plastic) in cobalt, and paint a 5" line of cobalt at the top section of the curtain. I would use bright white throw rugs, shaggy, to lessen the industrial feel of the floor.

Accent with gray and/or black tile, I see a lot of modern designs with this color scheme. Also get nickel colored faucets, etc, versus brass, brushed ones will look more gray than polished ones. It is also very possible to stay simple and clean with the permanent things like tile and dress up the room with accessories, gray towels, modern looking towel bars, mirror, sink accessories, etc.

There are companies that recover tubs, check your yellow pages, I have seen them advertised on TV. Have grey towels and accessories, depending on the colour of your walls. Buy tiles with hints of grey or buy which & grey tiles and do a grey border.
