What other benefits is there for sparring with a punching bag while doing quick moves around it?

Your not going to get a good workout for the abs.
But you will get a fairly good aerobic workout dancing around the bag, but you would have to spend at least 20 minute non-stop.

While you will use this area to stabilize yourself, I wouldnt call it a good workout. I would do crunches if you want a good workout. The ab area is a tough muscle so I would work it out every day, it will recover that fast too. Make it a habit to do crunches before you start hitting the bag every time and then youll get good results.
