I hold my stomach in all the time.. like... umm if you breathe in and pull your stomach in as far as it will go... like when you do stomach crunches... and then you can't breathe... sometimes I walk around like that catching little breaths all the time... or I breathe out a tiny little bit, so I can still catch shallow breaths and hold my stomach in... I'm sure people can tell, but no one has said anything...

So anyway, does anyone else do this or am I just a freak?
Just curiosity really...

Don't worry - I do the same:) Maybe not all the time because at home I don't care about this so much as when I'm out.
I don't think it's sth abnormal and you are not a freak.

proper breathing technique called centering is done using the diaphram muscles.
by sucking in your stomach you are using your rib cage to do your breathing, resulting in a less than full lung of air.

a lot of people do this, but you should know that it is unhealthy. the effort it takes to concentrate on "sucking in your tummy" you could put towards excersise, and then you will no longer need to suck in that tummy because it wont be anything to hide.

That makes two of us. I actually do it though when driving a considerable distance, but one has to be careful though because sometimes it feels like a cramp is coming on or worse still a muscle pull.

i always hold my stomach in a bit. not enough to affect breathing or anything there. its good for containing a stronger more toned middle. i used to have to think about doing it now i just do it without realizing naturally.
