They will really miss the dog once it dies, and add guilt on top of it.
SOMEONE take care of the dog, TODAY.

It sounds like these people are being selfish. I understand they'd miss the dog if he has to get help from you or even a vet, but I would tell them that if this dog either isn't fed properly, is neglected, or doesn't get treatment by a vet in the event he's sick, he could die and they would miss him even more. If he gets the treatment he needs, however, there's a much better chance they will have him back healthy.
I would also point out to them that by not caring for the dog and being responsible for his well-being (which includes regular feedings etc.) they are mistreating the dog and could be arrested for animal cruelty.

If they are truly your friend, then ask them about the dog. Just approach it in a nice way. Find out what kind of food they are feeding it, how much. Ask if he's eating and drinking good. If they have food out all the time and he's not eating, he needs to go to the vet, like someone else said. If he's eating and drinking alot, but no weight gain, he's probably got worms or parasites eating the food for him. If he's maybe eating and vomiting it up, then he may have a blockage in his stomach (had a dog that happened to). If they can't afford to take him to a vet, then offer to help pay. (If they can't afford to take care of it, they shouldn't have it.) Anyway, if you're there friend, then help them out here. The dog is suffering from something. If they feel put out by you asking them and tell you it's none of your business, then call animal control. The dog is SUFFERING.

offer to take the dog to the vet{ your money } or put some food out for it to have. but the best is to call the animal control and see what they think. but most likely they will know you are the one to turn them in. l can only think about getting it to the vet. then after that try to feed it. this is not good for the dog to be like this. and those people must see the different and should be asking you what all you do to keep your pet looking so good. keep trying to help the dog.

Take him to the vet--they'll only "miss him" for a couple of hours.
If they have been caring for him properly, then something is wrong.
If they haven't been caring for him, then they need instruction about how to do that.
Suggest to them that they will "miss him" even more if:
A) he dies
B) someone reports them for neglect and he is taken away
plus...part B could come with criminal charges.
I know you like these folks, but intervening is best for the dog AND your friends. They are responsible for his condition and I would guess that having a dog in that condition is illegal and could lead to prosecution.
Good luck
PS Have they ever seen any of the "animal cops" type shows on animal planet????

Huh? How do u want to help? By taking the dog with you?
Why cant your friends just feed him more, or take him to a vet to get checked?
And if they cant afford it, since u want to help so badly, you foot the bill. So this way they can keep the dog, and get help!

that's stupid, I really don't think that they would miss the dog if they are not taking proper care of it. You need to do your part and call your local humane society. They have no right to let that dog suffer, and if it is that noticably skiny someone else will report them eventually. And if it is really you yourself that loves this dog take the dog from them and nurse it back to health. DO NOT LET THAT DOG SUFFER!!!

Take the dog to the VET! So simple. It may have a heavy parasite load, or it could be something worse, but doing nothing is not an option. SOMEONE take the dog to the vet!!!

Ask them to take him to the vet.....or maybe just feed him!! If the situation is really bad, call your local humane society. There is no point in letting the dog suffer!
