I would say army. They can move with you wherever you get stationed, be in in the US, Korea, or Europe. In the navy you are obviously at sea for very long periods of time where they will not be able to see you. I would def going with the army. I dont know about Korea, but Germany has special "American" schools for kids of soldiers where they even have sports like baseball and football for them.

GhostWorld ... I tend to agree with some of the others who have answered. The Army or Air Force may be the better way to go for someone with a family. Additionally, rank is generally faster in the Army PROVIDING you seek the right military specialty. I won't give any real examples; it may sound like I'm disparaging someone. But just take a look at the civilian world ... Who usually makes out better? Hamburger flippers or office managers? Yes, we need burger flippers too, but they're easier to find than good office managers.

HOWEVER, there are certain quality of life issues to consider, too. I don't think anyone would disagree that Air Force housing is consistently better than most on-base housing offered by the other services. I don't know why this is, for sure. I cannot prove I'm correct about that, so you might have to ask around. Ask an Air Force person who's had to be billeted on an Army base. You'll get the answer you need, I'm sure.

Good luck, GhostWorld.

I don't know much about the navy, but I think you just have to go out on ships for a few months occasionally and your at home for the most part. But they don't go to war like the army. I'm an army wife, and I've seen my husband 5 weeks of the first year of our marriage. Granted he had to go through basic and AIT and is now in iraq. When he gets back he will be home for a while. But he will have spend time alot of time in the field before he goes back. Hopefully a navy wife can give you some good info and you'll have a better idea. But I do know that if you don't want to go to IRAQ the navy is prob better.

Actually I would say "none of the above".

If you are set on enlisting take a look at the Air Force. We have on base golf courses and all sorts of stuff. Of course it depends on where you get stationed. I went 22 years and retired. Vietnam was the only really SHlTY assignment I had in all that time. Second could be Army, those navy tours at sea are fine for a single guy but going home at night is nice.

In case you missed it, I am retired AF. Just wanted to reiterate that as I could easily be more biased than I believe I am.

Good Luck, and have a ball...

Prior to the time we met, my husband was in the Navy on a nuclear submarine and gone sometimes 6 months at a time or longer. I think, if you're worried about the sake of your family, the Army would be better.

The Navy would be better. They have a better track record for deployment. The boot camp is shorter so you will get liberty quicker. They will assist with everything in case you have to move your family.

definitely army you have a less chance of dieing than on a ship you know. And your family can be with you nearly all the time!Because when your deployed you can still e-mail,IM,telephone,and mail your family.Unlike the navy where you can only do that at the port.

Depends on the specific job you will be performing.....if you are going to be a ranger or special forces....they are gone alot.......if you are on a ship then you will be gone alot....a wife and child will have to very strong.
