Not the bonnet release inside the car, the second lever after it is released; even mechanics have trouble with mine.

best bet call the dealer give them the vin# off your titleand they will tell you about any recalls on this vehicle

You can check for all official recalls at http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/search.asp

Manufacturers service bulletins, or redesigns on newer models, that haven't warranted a recall are a different issue - a recall will only be issued for something safety related, not just because it is difficult to use (a recall is a legal process that involves Government departments).

Ask the dealer's service department if there is a Technical Service Bulletin from the manufacturer regarding the bonnet release.

Also, have a look at a newer Fusion at a dealership, or ask the dealer's parts dept. if there is a different part number for newer models.
