No just downloading limewire will NOT give any viruses. Just be careful when downloading videos and always check the file size (In my opinion most viruses on limewire are around 100kb to 900kb so dont download anything this size). If your just downloading videos and music then you will be fine, its when you try and download software that you get viruses.

I've been using it for about 2 yeats and have never had a problem

There are alot of false links/downloads on limewire when you put in a search, very often if you put in a music title it'll come up with a few results like "Hit of the 80's" and "Track 04 Rock Hit" they are basically links to trojans or take you to pop up hell. There are virii on Limewire, but if you have an up to date virus scanner then you will have no problems.
I've been using it since it's inception and never had a problem with Virii, Trojans or anything else for that matter.
If you want the Pro version, look for a crack in the "software" area once you have the free one.
You won't mess up your PC or your Ipod, as long as you virus scan every excecuteable file (Movie) you download. You cannot get a virus from an MP3 file.
Alot of the scaremongers are do gooders, but take a look at the music industry, it's so pathetic that theyre aren't true artists anymore, merely manufactured bands pandering to the masses.

If you trust your anti-virus software, you can venture out to the world of limewire. As a limewire user, I didn't experienced downloading viruses and such because I know that a download is spam or just fake. You can easily see this by looking at the file sizes. If you find many files of the same size or same names, then you can conclude that the file is malicious.

If you want to download videos and wants to be safe, you can go to Youtube or Google Video and download their videos. First find a software that can download youtube videos. Just go to google and type "Download youtube video" and many links will show up.

Next download an FLV converter to convert the Flash Video (the Video format youtube uses) to convert it to Mov? or mp4 or any video format your iPOd can play.

I use Super (c) converter to convert to that iPod compatible format. You can download it here free: www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I would be very carefull downloading vidios from lime wire, many are safe but you are downloading from a personal pc not from a site.

And a lot of people dont know how to protect there pc, there could be spyware or viruses in them due to ignorance about protecting files.

If you want to go ahead, make sure you have good virus killer on and good spyware killers and run them after every download

limewire itself won't do any harm, it's using limewire to download dodgy programs.files and then opening or running them that will do the dammage, avoid doing this and use a good antivirus program and all will be well - famous last words :)

if you just download videos and nothing else (like zip files) then you'll be ok

http://www.limewire.com/ is the most used free file sharing site. make sure you have anti virus running before swapping any files. the free edition of avg available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ does a good job. once you have installed limewire do a search for limewire pro. then install this and delete the original. pro is faster.

Because it is a file sharing program, you cannot be 100% sure of what you are getting.
Make sure your virus definitions are up to date, and give it a try.
Been using for a while and no problems so far...
