Allspice is its own spice, not a combination of spices. I can't remember the name of tree/plant but it comes from the West Indies. It was given the name allspice because it tastes a bit like cloves, nutmeg and some other spices blended together.

Allspice is the unripe berry of the Pimienta dioica tree; which is dried, ground, and used as a seasoning. Its name comes from its flavor. An EQUAL amount of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg will make a substitute allspice.
