I have been diagnosed with Gallstones, and one of the little blighters has moved and blocked a passage to my kidneys. As a result I have extremely dark urine, light stools, i itch from head to foot constantly and I have no energy. Despite having blood tests every week and being told that my bilirubin it increasing, the Dr hasnt yet told me how they will fix me!! Does anyone else have any experience in this illness and what was the treatment and how long did you have to wait?

You need to have your gallbladder removed and get the stone removed from your ducts (liver or pancreas not kidney). This is a highly dangerous yet simply cured problem. Please ask your doctor why the delay and perhaps go to another doctor for additional information/second opinion. The doctor might be waiting for your blood levels to reach a certain point or for the stone to pass but it could be life threatening if you're not carefully monitored. If the blood levels are normal and the stones pass, you can wait six months to a year (according to our doctor) but it's not recommended as the stones come back.

You can find a lot of good information on the web. Be sure to stick with reputable sites like WebMD or Mayo Clinic.

Best wishes.

The gallstones actually block the bile duct to your stomach, not your kidneys so that the concentrated bile stored in your gall bladder cannot get down to digest your food so it instead backs up to your liver, then into your bllod supply.

The clay coloured stool is because billirubin is absent so cannot colour it. The dark skin is that billirubin in your blood. The itching is bile salts which cause itching, particularly on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

The cure is either to remove the entirre gall bladder or more rarely to remove the gallstones only. Until this has been done when one gallstone clears another will probabloy pop out of the galbladder and block it over again.

The pain you feel during an attack normally starts as only slight discomfort and over perhaps 2 hours builds to an agonizing peak as your bile tries to pressure its way past the obstruction to your stomach.

The operations can be either a 12 inch cut and standard operating proceedure lasting about 5 hours or by keyhole surgery with about a 2 inch cut. Recovery from the full op takes about 1 month to get back to work and 3 to be something like normal. Keyhole surgery can have you up and about next day but can lead to complications requiring the full op if something goes wrong.

gallstones can be treated with meds or surgery. you may need to have an ultrasound scan to find he extent of the problem. regular blood tests will show infection as well as levels of bilirubin. jaundice indicates a real problem with liver function. I do not understand how this stone has blocked the passage to your kidneys, but another chat with your GP sounds in order to me. I feel able to give these answers from experiencing gallstones myself, and also having an incurable liver disease.

Milk thistle. Get it at Walmart or well being nutrition save. Had same venture & it worked like a miracle. Edit: Sorry, i change into in a hurry previously, yet even docs are starting up to understand the advantages of milkthistle for liver/gallbladder issues. i got here across a mag article about it years after i began using it; the article reported some docs were giving it to their sufferers, so I did a contented dance top then and there. this is about time the clinical community began taking a number of those treatments heavily. Please, on your own sake, examine it out. Take care!

No it did not block your kidney. It is blocking your common bile duct, and surgery is the treatment. What in the world are they waiting for?
