My father recently had a stroke and we need to lower his sodium intake. I cannot use salt substitutes. Of course I can simply not add salt to my current recipes but, I am looking for some tasty low sodium alternatives to classic homestyle recipes. For instance, alternatives to using campbells soups in classic recipes? Does anyone have personal experience with this type of situation?
Thank you so much.

Discuss with your doctor whether he can increase his potassium intake to compensate for the normal sodium intake. That way, you need not change the recipes. Another way is to increase his water intake and also use diuretics under medical supervision. So talk to doctor.

And yes, many supermarkets carry low sodium alternatives for many foods. So check out.
