was wondering if there were any results from certain studies, have heard from some RMOs that this was a barbaric approach, and other RMOs that they found E.C.T. to be helpful.

Its like you've been told. Some professionals are in favour and some not. Some patients are helped and others arent. Dont think there's a definitive answer.

ECT may be seen as barbaric by some but then again, you can't please everyone right? ECT has helped countless of people alleviate certain signs and symptoms of psychiatrict patients. It is therefore helpful. Besides, even those who think its barbaric would probably re-think their position if someone in their family needs the therapy. You must know that patients or clients as we call them now, are being taken cared of by the professionals who are with them at all times before, during and after the procedure. It's not as if a person is left behind to be zapped with electricity.
