I'm basically an atheist and that question about 'Why does God allow suffering' bothers me too. If you read the Bible, God is responsible for a lot of 'terrible' things. It seems to go back to the fact that he gets angry when people sin. I do not know one single person that follows all the 'rules' in the Bible word for word. If I were to believe the word of the Bible, I would be a HUGE sinner and so would everyone else. Why would people be surprised that God is allowing suffering? People seem to get most upset when they hear about 'innocent' people suffering, like children, etc.. I don't know enough about the Bible to quote anything but I was under the impression that children were not completely without sin. I think it confuses people because Christians are always saying God is a 'loving God', etc. Again, I thought that was if 'we' all followed his 'rules'.

God does not inflict suffering or good upon anyone. Some of us are more fortunate than others; some are much less fortunate. Some individuals' genomes allow them to have extraordinary abilities, which allow them to better provide for themselves.
But don't make the mistake of thinking that God has anything to do with it. God gave us free will; he gave us a universe governed by laws--physical laws--as well as commandments by which to live. The suffering on this earth--hunger, poverty, violence--is induced through the shortcomings of mankind--through greed, malice, war.
And no, we are not all sinners who deserve to burn in hell. You're saying that because you think it appeases God. Don't insult His intelligence. The root of all evil is the basic drive of mankind to provide first for himself. This idiosyncracy of earthly existence is not in itself evil, so don't make the mistake of thinking that we are evil for succumbing to our nature.
This of course does not justify evil deeds--it simply means that our evil deeds do not make us inherently evil.

Well I don't think atheists would give a damn why a fictional being did anything.
Also while its very impressive to theists I think the existence of evil and suffering is the WEAKEST argument against God's existence.
If someone comes on here and says I'm losing my faith because my life sucks, I'd tell them to go to church more often. You're not a real atheist until you see how absurd the whole belief system is. We know God's a vile, jealous, spiteful and petty ogre but thats not why we reject him. Santa is nice, but we don't believe in him either.

We all have free will regardless what religion or no religion we choose. In the Bible the law is set down in Corinthians and it is up to whom ever to obey and do right and the rewards are just.
It doesn't mean that we are free from Sin either, it means that we have choices and we must make the right choice in order to bloom in Gods work.
Which road do you desire as a Christian.?
Even Atheists have choices and they know their reaps of what they sow!

God helps suffering and discomfort with the aid of fact of what occurred interior the backyard of Eden. devil challenged Jehovah's top to rule over mankind while he advised Adam that he would not die if he ate the forbidden fruit. besides the shown fact that, Jehovah had already given Adam his command and advised him what the effect may well be, which became death. Jehovah would have alright purely destroyed Adam, Eve, and devil at that factor. besides the shown fact that, Jehovah had to instruct that he on my own has the superb rule over mankind. over the years, men have been alienated from Jehovah and look on the outcomes. God helps this suffering to happen to instruct to devil and the different Angels that he on my own is the main sovereign God. Very quickly he will end all suffering and discomfort. The harmless people who has suffered on the hand of evil would be rewarded with eternal existence. all of us could repent and stick to Jesus so as that we are going to be on the superb area of the concern between Jehovah and devil. Which one might you prefer to rule you. the guy who brought about suffering and discomfort or the guy who will carry an end to it? the alternative is yours. % properly!

Please ignore the hecklers. They just get a little touchy whenever someone threatens to believe in something they are determined to ignore. Of course you are right, but some people won't listen to logic. They prefer inane and angry profanities.

So your argument is that god created us to sin so that he could burn us in a pit of hell, but then sacrificed himself to himself so that he could change his rules and forgive some of us? What was I thinking? You are so right! It makes perfect sense! Tell Hank I'll kiss his a** and take the million bucks!
