To show that from way back when, God has always had a plan for us. He has gradually revealed himself to us -- in the manner that we are able to receive it. He worked with us in our weaknesses -- we are not always ready to hear the message. God is faithful and has always been there since he first chose to reveal himself as the one true God.

The OT is loaded with prophecy about Christ's coming, where, what he would do, etc. Since that all turned out to be accurate, it confirms the NT information about His coming. How can the Messiah's coming and teaching not be "viable" for today's Christians?

O.T. is a background to the N.T. and Christianity.
We come to understand many N.T. passages in the light of the O.T.
To make the O.T. relevent in the present time we need to understand what all was going at that time, get the core message, and reinterpret it in the modern time.
