spanish ranks second after english as a widespread language
(chinese ranks one as the most spoken since more than a billion chinese person speaks it)

It depends. The language should be easily understood and can be spoken. NOT a language in which we would have to roll our tongues. I hope the language ENGLISH does not change from the position of global language.

English speaking estimates vary from 275 to 450 million, Spanish speaking from 150 to over 300 million,
Hindi speaking from 150 to 350 million.

French or Spanish would be next for geographical coverage.
Mandarin Chinese is spoken by the most but primarily in China.

I would have to say SLANG.
Nothing has the meaning that it should have anymore. Bad is good, a father is a baby daddy, husband and wife are life partners, and even God has been replaced by man, of his own choosing. Not all men, but the biggest majority. This is a pitiful world we live in, and it is headed to Hell in a Hand Basket.

well, while roaming around yahoo! answers, I'd say it's Spanish,cause many people are asking Spanish translations. And I heard a lot of people like to learn Spanish.
