I'm a teenage boy, and a couple of years back I used to shave my mono brow, but one time I "over shaved" embarrassing myself, and since then I left my mono brow alone and let it grow. I want to get rid of it again but properly, after researching on the internet I learnt that shaving eyebrows results in much thicker hair, if I have my eyebrows waxed/plucked will the hair remain thick or will it be as it was before?

Thanks.

Ah, the mono brow, only endearing to your mum and your grandma who wouldn't care if the palms of your hands were hairy !. You are using a short term, time consuming ,solution with plucking ,shaving and waxing, though waxing is the best. The only way to go is electrolysis ! This is the eyebrow equivalent of kryptonite. Look around find a beautician who does electrolysis and ring her, explain what you need and she will advise. The beautician is no longer the province of the fairer sex, they now offer mens treatments for a loads of things and you would be surprised at the trade they do for blokey type stuff. Electrolysis involves killing the hair follicle altogether. you may have to go 2/3 times and it is more or less pain free, but then that's it - forever ! If you can't afford it ask your family for vouchers for your birthday etc, probable cost for the whole job £100. It would be done in stages over a couple of goes so would take 2/3 weeks to complete.

Ferari, Bookfiend, and Deborah are exactly right. Shaving does NOT cause the hair to become thinker. However plucking and waxing, after a time, weakens the hair folicles until eventually they don't grow back in. Electrolosis is a way of eliminating hair but laser hair removal is the latest. Check your options. If it's just the small area between your eyebrows just purchase a jar of hard wax that heats in the microwave and do it yourself...it's simple. Don't mess with the kind of wax that requires cloth strips. It sticks to skin as well as hair... the hard wax (often used for bikini lines) only sticks to the hairs. If you can spring for the cash....go get laser.

They always say that shaving causes hair to grow back in thicker or darker. I've never had that happen to me. Just to be on the safe side, you should pluck or wax the area. I don't like waxing because it irritates my skin so I pluck my eyebrows. The hair I've removed by plucking grows back in exactly the same way as it was before.

My mom has been plucking her eyebrows for years and years. She used to pluck them very thin for awhile. Eventually, a lot of the hairs never came back so her eyebrows became very sparse by the time she was in her late 40s or early 50s. It's weird.

If you only 'over shaved' once there won't be any consequence, the hairs will be as before. Good for you for dealing with your monobrow. Waxing or plucking will get less uncomfortable the more you have it done and will weaken the hair root. Have you considered electrolysis? This is a more permanent solution as it will kill the root after the requisite number of treatments and the hair will not grow back. May save you money in the long run.

Plucking tends to weaken hairs and over time you will find they don't grow back as coarsely as previously, and you have to pluck less often but it might take a few years. (It hurts less if you stretch the skin on each side of the hair as you pluck).

I'm not sure about waxing as it is less controllable (and hurts more) - you may find you take off too much and it is more difficult to get your eyebrows even unless you get someone else to do it for you.

Firstly, shaving hair does not make it thicker. It only feels like it because the ends of the hair are then left blunt instead of tapered, so it feels more dense.

Secondly, plucking will gradually waeken the hair and it will need doing less and less often, BUT it is quite painful and incredibly time consuming.

Thirdly, waxing has all the advantages as plucking, but it isn't nealry as painful, especially if you have it done professionally, and it is so very quick, it is worth having done for the speed alone.

I used to have mine waxed every month, but I now need to have them done about once every three months, they have reduced to almost nothing. It has taken about three years, but it was well worth it. Plus, it only costs me a fiver to have it done at the local salon.

yes it will come back to teh normal texture that you were born wiht cos when you tweeze or thread your eyebrows the hair is usually pulled from teh roots resutling in teh entire hair coming off from the roots which leads to a new younger softer hair growth hence forth ..with shaving your just cutting off the part of the hair above the skin which causes thicker hair growth....

Waxing will make the hair less thick and over time it will not come back and sometimes it will not come back at all.

Most probably will remain thick but will last longer before it grows again.

I'd suggest getting it done somewhere though, save the embarrasment of overshaving
