US, British and Australian.

All three are very well trained and all have extensive combat experience.

If this a was a "who was" question then it would be the Wathen SS, these boys kicked a*s they kicked ours enough all the way to Dunkirk.....

Now it's a toss up between UK and Israel..Why ? ..Because the British Soldier receives the longest training period of any nation this is because when a new British Soldier enters in to the theatre of combat there are no surprises he/she are ready to deal with most situations, as my friend above has pointed out the British Army seriously lack funding most of the basic equipment that the US army take for granted is non existent the SA80 is Sh*te even with the modifications it still jams it doesn't like sand so eh lets use it in the desert : Iraq, most of the British Armour is seriously in need of a major overhaul and upgrade.....But do we Gripe, No, we have been trained to deal with what we've got only when we have to share a base with the US we realise the crap we have and havent got......

The reason I also say Israel is because they have basic 10 week training as their national service done by all Boys and Girls at 17/18 then get stuck on the Gaza or some other Hot Zone "In the Sh*t from day one"...Now that's how to train Soldiers drop them in the crap before they know what's hit em....The US Army are over equipped and lied too that Kevlar vest ain't gonna stop a 7.62 from a AK and it ain't gonna keep you a live when a RPG 7 strikes home......

Thank god Insurgents are crap or there would be a whole lot more body bags comin' home...

Subjective answer....man for man it's the British army although experience is equally, if not more, important as training so the Israelis would be contenders.
Smaller armies tend to be very well trained. Norway, Australia, Canada, New Zealand are all very good. Perhaps surprisingly the Irish army is well respected although they only take part in UN missions.
Never worked with them but I heard the Indians and Pakistanis are very professional.
The US does NOT have the best trained army, they have the best EQUIPPED army with the best air support. They have some excellent soldiers, especially in special forces, but a lot of their men seem to come from the, shall we say, lower end of the IQ scale. Special school rather than special forces perhaps? I worked with them a lot and it was terrifying. Gung-ho and sloppy, we tried to keep as far away as possible for fear of getting slotted by some spanner doing his Rambo impersonation.
EDIT: Of course, training, experience and equipment all count for nothing if you are facing an enemy on their home turf playing by their rules. I'm thinking of Malaya, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq here ;)

To answer your question, the UK has the best TRAINED army. Probably the most intelligent, too.

When I went to a regimental re-union, there was a guy from World War 2 who repeated what I've heard said many times:

"When the British opened fire, the Germans ducked. When the Germans opened fire, the British ducked. When the Americans opened fire, EVERY f*ck*r ducked!"

Britain hands down. Very few Americans could pass british basic training and almost none could pass the Infantry training.

Britain spends the most per soldier on training than any other nation. If we had a government who could be more prepared to equip our soldiers instead of bollox like ASBOs and other sh!t they spend it on we would be very much the best army in all areas

i was in r.h.f. for ten years five of that was in seventh armoured div.before we were deployed to bozina our 432's had birds nests in the back where the monipod and mounting pack is that houses the 81 mm mortar they were in sh#t state so on the kit side of thing the us would win for me but for my training and experiance we would come out on top my training was the hardest thing to do we had a lot of backsquaders and drop outs
but life in the reg did not get any easier.ive done a lot of tours icluding n.i. ,gulf ,boznia ,belize twice for six months at a time that was the hardest tours the jungle is pritty unforgiving especialy around salamanca camp.

well it has to be said the UK but America does have a good army but they still haven't mastered urban combat (house to house fighting) why do you think they tag along with Britain we have all the experience from northern Ireland. we taught the Americans some of their tactics but the still haven't got it right. the SAS are the best in the world due to the fact that 75% of it is Scottish troops cause they are the toughest bastards in the world!

USA! Are you joking. There are far worse but their infantry training is very poor. The officers seem to have half a brain however.

As british i realise they are very well equipped. Our guys are struggling with inferior equipment. But you know what they say
"All the gear - No idea"

Note to people that think Israel are. Get real, they would be fighting with petrol bombs and 40 year old ak47s if america wernt equiping them.

England doesn't have an army, but UK forces are recognised to be the best trained, as shown in Iraq.

Canadian and Australian forces are also good. Anywhere else, forget it.
