I would like to lose 40 pounds and have been trying for 3 years now.Sick and tired of not being able to do it I do not want to do this long term just short term maybe 4 months.Bariatric doctor said I should try this.Anyone had good results with this ?

Especially if many other diets have failed, I refrain from advising drugs. The problem is that if the eating habits do not change the weight will be gained back because "dieting" has become a synonym for "depriving" us of what we want to have.
I am physically challenged so I am not big on suggesting that exercising will solve the problem. While it hurts for me to walk I find folk dancing (Israeli is what I have access to) can be modified enough to accommodate me. So it is not like there is no exercise.
The wisest thing to do is become aware of what proper portions should be and work your way down to them (and follow a recommended amount of calories). The more dark green vegetables the better for your health. Cut out or drastically down on sugars which we don't need. And remember "All things in moderation".

I AM TAKING THAT DOSAGE TOO!!!, but i quit it because like you said it aint working. doctor told me it was ok to quit but be careful of different foods. SO i lost 15 pounds in 2 months doing this:
drink one glass of water before every meal
drink at least 8 cups of water everyday
eat more meals with less food. for example eat 5 meals a day wwith less food then normal
snack alot of healthy snacks.
at least ten minutes of running or exercise and thats all it took me.

store bought salad dressings can be packed with calories make your own vinaigrette and store it in a small spray bottle to coat your greens without over dressing them
