My husband and I are moving into a house with baseboard heat.

Neither one of us have ever lived with this type of heat and we aren't sure how close we can safely put our furniture to the units.

Please help!

I know to keep flammable furniture away from heat sources, but HOW FAR??

I'm looking for a specific amount... 6 inches? 1 foot? 2 feet?

I hope it isn't too much distance, or I won't have much space in the rooms!!

We have baseboard heating also, we tend to put our furniture that is open at the bottom (desk, plant stand) over it so that the heat comes to the indoors rather than straight out the window, because that is where they tend to put the heaters, under windows. Also when we move furniture around we leave the couch out about 4" from the heater. Don't forget when you don't need to use your baseboard heat anymore such as in the summer time, shut off the breaker in your panel box, otherwise your hydro bill will be out of this world!

I can't give you the exact answer just what I have been doing. I've had baseboard heat for 15 years and most of my furniture that is near it is right up against it, such as dressers or desks that are opened at the bottom. My couch I have always put a couple of inches away from the heat.

Keep all flammable furniture away from any kind of heat.
You didn't say how old the house is, but I wouldn't take a chance of having anything near or covering something that puts out heat.
Hope this helps.
