That is an excellent way to teach come. If you don't have someone to do that with you can always do it yourself w/ a long lead also. Make sure to never punish if the dog runs away, that makes coming to you a bad thing and she won't want to be caught if she know she's going to get a spanking.
Also.. to prevent run aways (I have two girls and this method worked wonderfully) - snap a leash on them put them in sit EVERY TIME YOU ARE GOING OUT THE DOOR. Tell them to stay. When the door is open you need to be the first one out. Close the door, or leave it half way cracked. She need to still be in sit this whole time. (This may take some time).
Open the door and stand there (don't coax her thats not fair). When she gets up, correct her. If she tries to dart out of the door, close the door. She will learn that the door is a barracade and at any time it could close, even on her!
If she slips through bring her back in, and start over.
I did this with my girls for about 2 weeks I can now go outside with the door open, do yard work, get the mail go back in and then back out etc etc w/o worrying about running away.
You can train her onto a whistle also - if she slips out and is to far to hear your voice. You can do this while watching tv. Blow a whistle then treat, whistle then treat, whistle then treat. She'll associate that sound w/a treat. If she's outside and hears that sound she'll know when she comes back there will be a treat wating for her.
I have 2 hunting dogs so when they catch a scent they are gone. The whistle has been a life saver.
Good Luck

Hey there. When you work on "Come!" you should try to practice in a boring place. That is, there should be no distractions around - nothing that will make her think, "Wellllll, I think I'll go check out this squeaky toy/shoe/etc instead of coming to see what you have. See ya!" You need to be more exciting than the environment to have success, so pick up all toys before you begin, wherever you choose to work on this. Pay her with treats every time he comes to you - and practice this game all the time. Hide in the house and call her. When she finds you, have a big party, play tug, whoop it up, have a crazy good time!
Try to tie heavy string or a light rope line to the toys that she loves the most, so that when you play, you are always a very important part of the picture. If your dog takes off with a toy and plays with it by herself, you'll have to work even harder to get her to come. But, if that toy is attached to you, you can reel her in like a fish and play tug with her.
Many times, the avoidance signals that dogs use when they feel nervous make us humans feel frustrated. Have patience and I'm sure your pup will come flying to you before long. Never chase your dog - you're right, he does think it's a game and you don't want the game to look like that. Instead, call him once, and then turn and RUN. Let him chase you!
Other treats to use : ask your supermarket deli for extra-thick slices of ham, roast beef, turkey, chicken, or even (ewwww!) liverwurst. Cut these up into cubes and use as treats. I will bake salmon until it flakes and use this as dog treats. Those "goldfish" crackers are okay, and Wellness makes an extra-smelly pet jerky that most dogs seem to love. Lamb lung is good - Merrick sells it, and liver treats also seem to be very motivating for my guys.

Open your door and stand there, when your dog makes a move toward the door "HEY" and a noise to get her back. Make her sit and continue on. Eventually she will take note that you own the door and she needs your permission to go through it. Also exercise your dog but, you have to be care full not to allow her to get hyper prior to her walk. Always train a dog when they are in a calm state of mind. I always leash my dogs in a sit position in front of the door, they relax for a minute then I open the door. They continue to sit till I walk out first. As soon as they walk out they sit and wait till I lock the door. They move forward when I move forward. We do the reverse coming home. Remember YOU must always be the first in and out of you home. As for coming to you a long lead is good, if you want you can also try this inside your home. Sit your dog (treat) "stay", walk ten steps, make a come motion w/ your hand as you are saying "come" have her sit and (treat). I always use hand signals w/ my dogs, because there are times when voice commands are not and option and if your dog ever loses their hearing you still have control of him/her. Good luck

definite. you have some innovations right here. a million. each and every time the canines pulls, provide up the place you're, circulate forward lower back only while the leash is loose. this is going to take you an hour or so which you would be able to circulate 20 ft if the canines is a bad puller, save at it, your efforts will repay. you additionally can opposite direction while he pulls as a exchange of scuffling with, try the two techniques and spot which he seems to be doing the terrific with. 2. A Halti or comfortable chief head collar, or an hassle-free walk harness (no longer a frequently happening harness or yet another form of no-pull harness, those motivate pulling) can assist you to administration the canines. A headcollar works by skill of puling the canines head on your direction while he pulls, making it puzzling to accomplish that and making the canines much less annoying to administration with much less potential. an hassle-free walk harness fastens to the leash in front of the canines's chest. If the canines pulls, that's grew to become in direction of you. i'm prepared on the harness, i've got seen it artwork ok for many canines, and canines are greater accepting of it than the headcollar. 3. while you're experienced in making use of one correct, a prong collar or 'choke chain' can artwork, yet they ought to be used correct to be helpful, the choke chain in specific can injury your canines's trachea if used improperly.

yep bring her to a fenced in yard,, with a long long 25ft. + rope tied to her collar... have the yummiest treats you can think of,,,, have your friend hold the dog,,,, you hold the rope and walk to the end,,,, get your dogs attention then say her name and COME in a happy voice praise, clap your hands etc.. then if she isn't coming directly to you,,, you will real her in with the rope,, giving short quick tugs,, thereby letting her decide to come to you - don't reel in like a fish... when she gets to you,,, praise treat and go crazy,,,, also,,, run away from her and laugh and make happy noises - she will want to chase you... if she does praise and treat... never never chase your dog... you will not win.... also,, in the house ,,, let a 3 foot leash drag behind her,,, have your friends come over and knock on door,,, insist that your dog sit and wait at the door ( you will be able to do this because she has her leash on) let your friends in then you can praise her... never never let her go out the door in front of you... she must always be told to wait when you open that door... if she waits you praise her and then step outside and go for your leash walk..... also enrolling in a basic obedience class will help you and her tremendously

You block the door and the reason why the dog tries to runaway because you need to give the dog exercise. And when you exercise the dog the will become more relaxed.

start by training her to come with a 30 foot training lead, make sure she is done going potty and ready to learn, tell her sit stay, and walk away a few feet then and turn and call her to COME, if she does praise, her if she doesn't try again, and again ,and again until she does, when she does, walk away a Little farther until she comes on command, every time she gets it right get very happy with her and try not to get frustrated when she doesn't, when you go to answer the door or go to leave the house tell her to get back never let her go to the door unless you tell her its time to go out. they want to please you if your patient it will happen

normally the humane society will have dog training i had to take my dog there because she would run away too. the thing that helps the best is an electric fence people think it is mean but it really isn't the shock doesn't hurt at all. my dog doesn't even attempt to run away anymore. the best brand for invisible fences is called Invisible Fence.they are costy but it could just save your dogs life! ;)
