I think it's a great idea as muslims have the highest umemployment rate in the UK and they also have the higher birth rate so a lot of them must be really be struggling.

I think it is a step in the right direction and a open hand to our oppressed muslim community.

There's an old saying: "Beggars can't be choosers."

Charities that give food to the poor are either secular or religious. If they are secular, then there should be no religious favoritism given. If they are religious, then the person should go to one that favors his own religion if he desires specific treatment.

Charities don't have to exist, but they do because people want to help. I can't stand people who come to them and demand special treatment because 1) their particular group doesn't have a charitable organization that will attend to their dietary laws 2) they're too lazy to go to their own group.

I do understand what you're trying to get across, though. Respect a person's unique culture and it will foster understanding. In theory, this is a good idea. But in reality, it is lacking. There's another saying that comes to mind: "Give them an inch, they take a mile." Some people feel they are so much better than everyone else, they mistake kindness for weakness and then demand more and more. It's sad because it hardens even the kindest people.

Something in the tone of you question suggests to me that the dietary requirements of muslims is not your main concern. Also "Salford dud" if we ever meet I will be happy to complete your conversion to Islam with the aid of my blunt kitchen shears.

None the less the answer is no. Pork is a high grade and cheap source of protein. Its also tasty and hits all the food buttons. Most Charities distributing food have a vegetarian option. It is also the case that Jews & Moslems are allowed to ignore dietary rules if in real need.

I have to say that in London over many years the number of genuinely homeless Asians (no idea if they were muslim) I have seen is very few. Perhaps many more are hidden? I do know that Sikh temples provide vegetarian meals for anyone in need including Muslims. Certainly in the UK the majority of homeless have other problems, be it Mental Health, Alchohol or other drug abuse, marriage or family breakup or issues relating to physical and sexual abuse. I doubt wether many are actively pursuing their faith.

Why do you say oppressed? They have the same rights as everybody else. When you speak of discrimination, meaning certain individuals are not treated equally before the law, that is simply not the case in either Britain, France or indeed Australia.

Does this mean beef should not be offered in case it discriminates against Hindus.

As long as the meat is identified then the recipient can may a decision as to whether to eat it but I think if someone is hungry they will eat what is offered.

I’m Muslim and I do appreciate your kindness. But also I do not think you should stop serving any type of food or drinks because of a minority’s believes. But your honest role is by informing them that it contains Pork (fats, meat or any other ingredient). And it is his free well to eat or not to eat the offered meal.

Don't be so politically correct. If a Muslim is homeless, he can eat other things. Don't discriminate on the majority for a very small minority. A large percentage of homeless aren't Muslim.

I think if you are homeless and starving then you should not be picky about what is served to you. Homeless shelters normally feed people what they can afford or what is donated. So if someone donates cases of pork that is what people are gonna be fed. Beggers can't be choosers.

By all means, let us protect them from themselves. Poor things.

HEY!

Just because they're homeless doesn't mean they're stupid. They're fully capable of leaving what they don't want and picking up what they do.

Don't make pork the ONLY available meat on the menu and they'll be just fine and dandy.

Big Brother comes in many guises and this is another one.

DOWN WITH BIG BROTHERISM!

yes I agree. Its so important to make sure that these oppressed innocents are treated more than fairly. We should back there attempts to have the medieval she`er system accepted as being superior to our poor English law,why it doesnt even allow for the stoning of temptressess who go out in public, inflaming mens passions by the wanton showing of extremities.
The selling of pork should be outlawed utterly, any inferior English butchers selling this evil meat, and its byproducts;satan sausage,,beelzebub bacon, should be stoned to death as is required by the new laws.
Re the birth rate, not nearly high enough, with this in mind we will begin distribution of better beds and lots more money, given exclusively by the members of the loathsome white anglo-saxon christian working people who actual want a better England with out this sort of religious intolerance.Learn English you scum and try to integrate. If your way of life is such a treat, bugger off to Pakistan, lots of room there

They choose their birth rate, not us. We are back to the question should we do every thing to appease the Muslims regardless of every one else. If they can't fit in, they can always go home.
