Hi, I'm 20 lbs overweight and I tried to change my eating habits for a while but I didn't lose any weight because I think I was consuming as much calories as I'm losing, so I thought I should have a diet for a few months so that I could lose some pounds, and then start to change my eating habits thing.
so I'm on the diet right now and I'm losing about 2-3 pounds a week, but I'm not sure if I'm consuming 1000 calories or less, for example, this is what I ate yesterday:
one egg and a cup of full fat milk with sweetened nesquik in the morning, after 2:30 hours I ate a banana
then at lunch I ate two small chicken thighs and a small piece of bread, then after 3 hours I ate an orange , then I drank one cup of tea with one teaspoon of sugar.
at dinner, I ate some salad and a banana (I know I'm eating too much bananas, but they just keep my energy level up).
is that less than 1000 calories?
My BMR is 1520, that means if I eat 1500 calories, I will not lose weight.

I know it's wrong to eat less than 1000 calories a day, but I don't know if I'm eating less than that, that is my question.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Bananas. :) Yeah, it sounds about 1000-1200 calories, the food you're eating. Please don't make the mistake that I did. I thought the food I was eating was 1000 calories, but after observation of 3-6 weeks I realized that I put my metabolism in starvation mode and was actually eating only 800 calories because my skin was dry, I was always moody, etc. Sounds good. Eat healthy and exercise is good for you. Good luck.

It sounds to me like you just barely reached 1000 calories, possibly less. You don't say how tall you are, but my advice would be to eat about 1200 calories/day--any less than that and you are risking malnourishment, especially if you don't eat a balanced diet. The best thing to do is shoot for a weight loss of about 1-2 pounds/week maximum, and don't do anything weird like cutting out whole food groups or anything. Eat five-six small meals/day, including all food groups as much as possible. This will keep your blood sugar stable throughout the day and prevent you from feeling tired. Whole milk is an excellent choice because it contains lots of vitamins and a bit of fat you do need for health.
It sounds like you're on the road to losing these pounds. If you are concerned that you aren't losing fast enough, increase your exercise, such as walking 20 minutes/day, rather than cutting back your food intake.
Good luck!!

I am currently seeing a dietitian for weight loss. She said to keep my calories between 1200 and 1400. For weight loss. From what you listed you are consuming a lot of fat and refined sugar. That might be why you didn't see any weight change. Were the chicken thighs fried? Nesquick is full of refined sugar. And look at the fat grams in your milk. I didn't see much protein or good carbs on your list. I started watching what I eat and keeping a food journal. It is very helpful and they say people who keep track of what they eat tend to keep weight off. you don't have to eliminate anything you just have to keep things in moderation. The link I listed is free and very helpful. Good Luck. I wish you the best!

I just started a new program this past Wednesday. Have you heard of the pill "Fahrenheit"??? That's what I've been taking. And, I just weighed myself today and measured my bust, waist, hips, thigh, calf and arm, and so far (within 2 days) I've lost 4 inches! I feel great. Last time I weighed myself was on Wednesday when I started it and I weighed 145 pounds. I don't have a scale right now, so I don't know how much weight I have lost. The people and Modulators will help you with ANY questions and all that you have. I want to be down to around 115-120 pounds by the end of April, so hopefully I will get there. They have a meal plan too to go with it. I feel great..... go to the website and check it all out for yourslelf. People have before and after pics up there too. If you're interested in it, sign up with them (it's free). Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'm on that site too. email me if you have any problems or anything. Good Luck!

Write down everythnig you eat and stick it in a calorie counter calculator. There are a bunch on the internet. www.calorieking.com is a good one. Be careful with that low cal diet and make sure you're taking supplements(multivitamins) to make up for what your missing. You're probably not even overweight. I hope your not trying to live up to some silly standard, walking around looking like that Ashley twin.

You are over the 1000 calorie mark with the milk
*******************************************8888
I included a link for calorie counting.
Try a different approach to your diet.
Counting calories is okay but eating sensibly is better.
Whole milk w/nesquick Way too many calories almost 700
USE SKIM milk no/nestles U can have 3 cups a day (You get use to it been drinking for 48 years)
Dark meat chicken has more calories and fat than
White meat BREAST
{broil or poach UR meat}
Use SPLENDA in coffee or tea NO CALORIES
Bananas are high in fat/ only on occasion
Eat apples or oranges
Salads are useless if you use high fat dressing
The best diet is the diabetic diet ..........Good nutrition and cuts calories.....Ask your doctor for one
A MAJOR GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

it is not absolutely right that if a person eat as less as she or he could she would lose her or his weight, there are two much factors that would become the reason why you are a little overweight, such as sleeping too much ,not enough excercise ,and what was more ,too much pressure would be the reason why you are crease in weight dayby day,try to get to the healthy lifestyle it is important

nope, sounds like you're eating pretty well! :D I need to eat more like you are! haha you might want to exchange the nesquik whole milk for nonfat though, because nonfat has a lot less calories and more calcium! :D
