don't ever pay for a college scholarhip search!! I did and it was a big scam so now I want to make sure no other student does. I have worked at a private college and they give out a lot of scholarships themselves based on information on your college application as well as your fafsa so go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the FREE application for federal student aid and list the schools you are interested in then apply to the schools and wait for the financail aid letters to come in. If you still need more funding go to www.fastweb.com and www.scholarships.com for FREE scholarship searches.

You definitely do not need to pay money to locate scholarships to attend private colleges. There are so many different free sources out there to find money to attend college in your community and on the web.

First, since you are planning on attending private colleges, I recommend filling out the FAFSA form. It will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. It can also help bring some work experience through the work study program. The amount given is based on family income and financial resources.

Second, the high school guidance office and guidance counselor has a list of local scholarships.

Third, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will have a list of scholarships, too.

Fourth, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. It lists scholarships for specific majors, hobbies, ethnicity, clubs, and even a scholarship for wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most of these searches are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered into a form on its website.

Good luck!
