I've found that Christian preachers who have "found God"appear to have what they call inner peace. (basically they have less negative emotions)
Surely you can have this inner peace if you just have good morals and lead a healthy lifestyle?

The above plus the golden rule (Treat others as you would have them treat you) and you do NOT need any religion for that!!!!

No it's all toss mate mate, religion that is. The only thing religion has done for this world is start countless wars. I do believe in God but don't follow religion, it doesn't matter what you have faith in as long as you have faith. So the answer to your question is be happy with the person you are and have morals, then when you are happy with yourself, and your life you will find that inner peace.

I found inner peace by looking inward for answers to life's questions. I am not a Christian. I have created my own belief system from examing differents Faiths. Inner peace comes from a belief that ultimately there is something out there bigger than us that cares about us. You don't have to join organized religion to have that belief. So yes, if you choose to live life without regret, then inner peace will come from the simplicity of your life. It's basking in turmoil that leads to chaos.

One would think so, especially since some born again Christians are so intolerant of others beliefs and so judgmental. I guess the inner peace comes from the fact though, that they believe that when they die they will go to heaven.

I am buddhist, who grew up in a catholic school, so perhaps i can help..

2 Main universal questions:
What is happiness? and
How do I get it?

For myself, to find inner peace, there are certain steps. First you must understand why you want inner peace, or what is your motivation for having it, then questioning what exactly wants inner peace. What is this Self that wants inner peace??

Through much questioning, motivation, determination, discipline, and concentration you can gain much awareness.. And awareness is the ability to respond without hesitation and distraction.. This is wisdom, and to me, that is inner peace..

Buddhism teaches that inner peace comes with detatchment, not with belief in a god. I think that the key is to live in the moment. I know plenty of religious people who have absolutely no peace and make sure nobody else does either! :-)

And, hey 818r, maybe the people who spell it "loose" think being loose is the key to inner peace. Freudian slip perhaps?

Inner peace to me is found within yourself, nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with state of mind. The religious argument is always there, so make up your own mind and stay 'peaceful' about it.

you can find inner peace through knowing who you are and what your about. if your on the right track youll know. there is an old saying and i forget the exact words but it talks of god grant me the serenity to change the things i can, accept the things i cant and the wisdom to know the difference. its said often to know theyself is to know god and i do believe that is also a road to inner peace.

inner peace is gained by controlling the mind of negitive and bad thoughts, such as anger, jealously, attachment, and so on.
you don't have to be religious to have inner peace, just a mind full of happy thoughts!! meditation is the key to inner peace. just sit quietly and try your best to focus your mind on one virtous object, like world peace, being kind to someone you know etc.
just relaxing your mind of all the mad thoughts we have everyday gives you a little taste of inner peace, try it!!!!
