If you go to the website of the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in the United Kingdom you can download the application form. There is both a normal and an express procedure - but you pay more for the express version.

For a visa to China, contact the consular office in the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the capital city of your coubtry. Or a consulate of China in your city or a city near you. You can also use a private visa service such as one listed in http://www.passportvisaexpress.com/?web_visas1,action.default

You only need one visa to visit anywhere in China, except possibly in Tibet. From Beijing, you can fly to Mishan or take a train there. You might have to make a stop over in Harbin on the way to Mishan.

When you buy a plane or train ticket to Mishan, make sure you tell the agent it's Mishan in Heilongjiang Province.

When I did my China Visa, they had express service. I gave my documents etc at 9am and I got the same after 1pm. How much faster can you get right?. They only gave me a 30 day Tourist visa by the way. I did ask for multiple entry 1 year Visa but they would not issue one for me.

To travel within China, I'd just take the train from Beijing.

mishan is on the rail line from harbin...

-23 C is cold, but it gets much colder than that.

check with your travel agent...often times that can book your flight and get your visa together.

Without a doubt, www.z-visa.com - they have same day service. You will likely take a train from Beijing to Harbin.

There is only one visa for all of China (with Tibet having an additional permit). I get my tickets from Chinese travel agents (always cheaper than Orbitz, etc.) and then they throw in visa service for a small fee. I would do that unless you live in DC, New York, San Francisco, Houston, or a city with a consulate.
