when my dog was 6 months i was told by a dog trainer /behavourist to go adult all puppy food has is extra protein which if you read a pups food content and a adults content you can see its difference.
the protein just gives even more energy to otherwise and already active pup.(or more hyper)
I actually have 2 dogs under a year a labrador and king charles both on adult and and both looking good ,growing and good coat and eating well.

There is a lot of debate about this. For a large breed like a lab, it is advised to continue with puppy/junior food til they are a year. But alot of it depends on how they respond to the food. If the dog is highly energetic, but does not seem to be filling out, it may be worth moving onto the adult food now. It wont do any harm as they are almost fully grown any way. Best thing to do is have a word with your vet if you have any concerns

If the diet your pup is on is a large breed puppy food or growth for large breeds then stay on this until you puppy is 18mnths. If it is on a normal puppy food i suggest you change to the above preferably or an adult diet. The reason being labs are prone to bad hips so in order to help minimise probs in later life they need to grow slowly to begin with. The large breed puppy food has all they need in it but it helps them grow to their size over a longer period of time so that there bones muscles and ligaments all grow at the same rate. I am a vet nurse and unfortunately have to see the effects of puppies growing to quickly - bad hips which can lead to painful joints for life meaning expensive medication and no walking companion for you. hope this helps

Give him another 4 months on puppy food before changing to adult. I agree with others that you do the changeover by mixing both for a while. A week should do it.

I leave my buddies on puppy food until they are 2 years old then give them a gradual rise to adult high protein food.

HI I WOULD KEEP HIM ON PUPPY FOOD TILL HE IS A YEAR OLD ,THEN GRADUALLY CHANGE HIM OVER TO JUNIOR FOOD TILL HE IS 18 MONTHS. THIS WAY YOU BE SURE THAT YOUR PUPPY IS HAVING EVERY THING IT NEEDS FOR ITS GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.SOME PUPPY FOODS WILL GIVE YOUR DOG EVERY THING IT NEEDS TILL IT IS 18 MONTHS READ THE BACK OF YOUR PUPPY FOOD IS SHOULD SAY.HOPE THAT HELPS

I buy one 40lb bag of puppy feed for one puppy. Once that bag is gone I switch it over to adult feed. Pet Tabs and adult feed is what the pup gets. All dogs here eat dry food wetted with water.

Don't change his food yet. He needs all the nutrietion of the puppy food still. And when I change foods I just wait till its gone then I just give him/her the new stuff. It won't hurt your puppy any. I get my food from a feed station and I always talk to him about nutreintion and he says that it won't hurt at all. And I have changed dog food twice since she was a puppy. SO don't worry to much about it. Just wait till he/she is at least a year old or longer.

when he is a year old it takes about a week to change from one food to another. you put a little bit of the new food in the bowl with the puppy food each day add a little more of the new food and put a little less of the old food.
