Yes...no...and maybe? I'm a fairly traditional Catholic. My father was a polite atheist. My mother is a luke-warm Catholic. Nothing about religion was ever hammered into my head by them or anyone else.
Over the years, I've done a lot of reading, studying, and soul searching, and have found the answers that suit me in the Catholic Church.

Well I am the same religion as my parents but not just because they were. I accepted this religion after searching and studding different beliefs. I have studied about Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Islam... None satisfied my soul as Islam did with its clear and wise rules... Equality for all, belief in one divine God rather than more... Ever lasting guidelines which even though set more than 1400 years before still applicable and proven to be correct by modern science... Simple things, like brushing your teeth, washing your hands before a meal, eating less than what will make you full, and more sophisticated issues like marriage, inheritance rules, the list can go on and on... what ever you can think of that related to you... you will find guidelines for it in the Quran or the life of the prophet....
Other religions had weaknesses.... By that I don't mean to say that Christianity or Judaism is not sent by God... (Islam tells us to respect them as well as the prophets) for example you see differences in the text of the testaments as they have been altered by humans. On the other hand if you look at the first copy of the Holly Quran which is still available in its original form and the ones printed today you won’t find the difference of an alphabet let alone a word or sentence... (As promised in the Holly Quran by Allah (God)
So I am a Muslim because I choose to be and because it gives me peace of mind and heart not because my parents were Muslims.

actually no, I became a Taoist because my boss had a book on it, then i researched it in depth nine years after i picked up that book, I love the wisdom of Lao Tzu. I refuse to mix myself with my old beliefs, which were christian, because i feel something is not right about christianity at all.

Yeah, my parents were really really smart, and I'm stupid, so I knew that they had the answers and I should just listen to whatever they said. I got straight Ds and Fs in school, even after studying, and my parents were both doctors.
Unfortunately, they were Satanists.

God and Jesus were never spoken of when I grew up. One time when I had to fill in a paper for a school event, it asked what religion? I asked my father. He said, well, my father is protestant, so thats what I put down because you had to put something.

I was, yes, until I grew up and started asking questions.
Now I am of no religion, although I do have my own beliefs.

No, I am not in the same religion as my parents. In fact, they encouraged us all to investigate many religions and denominations to find our spiritual home.

Not really. When we were children my parents moved a lot and they tended to go to the church, nearest them. So I have been to the Baptist church, the Disciples of Christ and so on. I am now an Episcopalian, because it conforms more or less to my beliefs.

This begs the question - Are you just not a Christian because your parents weren't?

I don't think my father knows what half the religions in the world are. And he certainly never took me to church, so no.
