I think initially they are for a lot of people, but in time it's what's inside that is important.

I suppose looks are important to a certain extent, but personality and heart wins. The skin wrinkles with age, the looks go, but the heart goes on and on. What's inside is far more important, a loving heart and a kind soul!

Looks are actually very important.. It is how one human recognizes one another... Did you know that they can actually measure beauty? its true, The ratio 1:1.618 i think it was, check it out, very interesting.. Looks on faces are very important, this is fact, but everything else is of lesser importance, because faces are what we directly relate to when we socialize. Other areas are used to convey status etc. So yes, they are important!
In the long run though, are morals and ethics and compassion are the most important, so I think... Cheers!

Yes, I think looks are important to an extent. First attraction to someone usually stems from how they appear physically. But personality is definitely a huge factor and eventually the more you like someone for who they are, the more beautiful they appear to you.

Depends.
If you want a guy to be sexually attracted to you, then looks are important.
If you want a guy to respect you and be your friend, then personality is important.
If you want a boyfriend, then you need both.
But looks are a very odd thing to measure. See, every guy thinks looks are very important. But every guy has a different opinion of what is good-looking. Has your friend ever told you about a guy she thought was cute, and you looked at him and thought he was ugly? Well, same thing happens with guys. Even for supermodels, not every guy likes them. For example, I don't think Heidi Klum is particularly attractive. But if you comare the percentage of guys that think Heidi Klum is attractive and the percentage of guys that think Ugly Betty is attractive, Heidi Klum would get higher numbers.
So, how do you get your numbers higher? women have known this for eons. Hair, makeup, clothes, diet/exercise. There is a reason so many women spend so much of their money on this crap, cause it works. Ever seen a really hot chick without all this stuff? They look pretty average. We men aren't trying to be mean to you to make you do this stuff. We just can't help what we're attracted to. And let me remind you again, every guy is different. So if you do all this stuff differently, you'll attract different kinds of guys. So by playing around with different looks, you'll be attractive to many more types of men. (I know there is so much emotional stigma around the diet/exercise part, so I want to highlight it. I'm not telling you that you have to be thin. I'm just saying that different sizes will attract different guys.)
Oh, and I forgot to mention scent. Try to not to have bad B.O.
Good Luck.

The way you look will capture the attention of the opposite sex, from there on, everything else will end up being more important.

yes look r important with the strangers. and it is very difficult to have a definit yardstick for 'looks' . sam 'look' may create different feelings in different persons as is well said the beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. jo dekh raha hai who kis nazariey se dekh raha hai !!! but to those who knows u well from your inner heart, at times does not matter even if someone is not very attractive. but in that case one should atleast have kind heart and sweet soul......i mean all good qualitites.
