It is true that some "Christians" treat non-Christians in an unchristian manner. These people are not true Christians.
English is a weak language for talking about different kinds of love. The Greek of the New Testament is much better:
+ Eros: Romantic love
+ Philia: Brotherly (or sisterly) love
+ Storge: Parental love
+ Agape: Godly love
Eros and philia are based on emotions and storge is almost an instinct.
But Agape is a decision to wish for the best for someone.
Christians are commanded to love (agape) their neighbors and enemies. This does not mean we have to like them or approve of their actions.
This love (agape) is almost impossible to do without God's help.
Do you love (agape) the terrorists who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center?
With love in Christ.

I think most Christians do love both God and others. There are those who are hypocritical, which is sad. As Christians, we should practice what we preach. To be honest, I believe most do (or at least attempt to---Christians are human, too, after all). But the sad truth is, with one or two bad experiences many will judge the whole lot.
And yes, it was one of God's commandments. His second one in fact, second only to loving him (and how can we love him without loving others?). It is more important that everything else.

I have love for many other people besides myself. I have forgiven people for things that no one else had the mental capacity to. Honestly, I was told I was crazy for doing do. I have love for non christians as I have friends that have no god that they believe in. You are generalizing us from actions of people that can't find it in themselves to do the right thing and follow the word they say that they read. Not all christians are hypocritical, although I know there are so many that are.

Some do and some do not. The fundamental Christan views god as a mean old man who hates everything that the fundamentalist hate. And because god shares this hate, somehow that makes the fundamentalist's hate a righteous thing. A person's view of god is limited to how they view themselves. People who hate themselves worship a god that hates, people who love themselves, real genuine love, worships a god who loves all.

The true Christian loves all men in the love of God.
How can we say whether a man is loving or not, whether he is a Christian or non-Christian? Who is teaching a non-Christian to love and how can we know the nature of his sentiment? It is not at all our capacity and responsibility to judge; we better learn and do the right things for ourselves.

Christ says, "Do not be bound together with unbelievers for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14:
I love you as my brother in Christ but not my brother in men.
Yes, true Christianity loves all men but we are already aware about this warning,
Jesus said, they are “wolves in sheep’s clothing”. Matthew 7:15
It is written..."For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
Some are too foolish enough to follow them. To follow a blind leader is to be blind and will lead you astray and Christ says such shall fall into the ditch.

Seems to me that some Christians are the most judgmental and hateful of people. They look down on others, who don't share their beliefs as dirt, usually instead of trying to win them over. Even Christians of one faith will look down on another christian of another denomination and tell them they can't go to heaven, because they don't believe some of the things they do. It is so sad.

Christians are not perfect...only forgiven
Yes, there are bad apples in any religion or among the non-believers.
Some people are just fanatics and lose their credibility when they open their ignorant mouths..but that goes to all people..
so don't judge all people by the acts of a few knot heads
