Im looking for a car but its got a pretty specific specification. Firstly it has to be Automatic, secondly we would like sliding doors at the back with room in the boot for loads of baby things. We would also like it to be quite high as my wife has a disability and it has to have powered stearing. The car cant be too big as she doesnt like to drive large cars and lastly I would love a smallish engine in it to get reduced road tax and insurance. Lastly it cant be too expensive so an older model or a model thats been around for a while would be great, can you help?

The best I can think of for you is the Renault Kangoo.

Its effectively a version of the Kangoo van with rear seats, rear sliding doors on both sides, and windows, so it has plenty of boot space and a high seating position.
Its reasonably well equipped, and is available with automatic transmission.

for examples currently for sale in the Renault dealer network.

There are some older 1.4-litre automatics on Autotrader (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?page=6&searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&hassearched=Y&make=RENAULT&min_pr=75&source=0&model=KANGOO&max_pr=&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1500&postcode=BN11+4LS&ukcarsearch_full.x=64&ukcarsearch_full.y=10&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH)

If you were spending a lot more money, I would suggest a new Mazda5.

The only car that I can think of that fits most if not all of your criteria is the Nissan Prarie

Really a bit old and suffered with rust a bit but how cheap do you want to go

I would look at a Chrysler Voyager. But it's a lot bigger

one of you choice is sliding doors. sliding doors mostly comes in vans but you are not looking at big cars first you need to pick van or car. van has allot of space more seat-es 7 to 8 people you can put in van good for trip es or shopping but Little big vs car is 5 people not so big as van easy to park good MPG easy car is cheaper the van if i where you i will look at Honda and Toyota compare with these models as some one says you can put sliding doors but will cost $$$ .

No older cars with the sliding doors as I can think of you are into the people carrier class with your specification. KIA do one that ticks most of the boxes

i think the only smallish car with sliding doors that isnt a people carrier is the peugeot 1007

you can buy a 'normal' car and have sliding doors fitted by a specialist...it will cost a bit though!
