i'm sorry but it is not possible.
reasons:
1. The education system is lagging behind.
2. Racisim runs too high.
3. guns
4. drugs
5. Strikes when everyone should be working together to have a better economy.
6. social welfare which gives people the impression that they don't need to work
7. Unrealistic in pursuing of goals
8. Suing people just for quick cash
I mean which other countries would allow the thieves/robbers to sue the owners of the houses which they attempted to rob? best of all, the robbers won the cases.
Which other countries would allow someone to sue a corporate because they didn't indicate 'hot contents' on the coffee cup? This is common sense!!
This might be human rights but it has been wrongly abused by a lot of people.
look at the emerging countries... They don't have those problems. Everyone knows that they have to work hard in order to survive. Either that or they will be in poverty.
Money, which should have been used to 'repair' the internal systems, is wasted on war.
It is like people wasting money on plastic surgeries on the exterior while the internal systems are rotting away.

No. Countries are born, live and die, like everything else.
Many countries have advanced beyond the achievements of others mostly through technology. There are other reasons, such as strong leadership, or charisma.
One day, the United States, in fact all countries we see now in the world, will be gone. Now, as to whether that will happen in the lifetime of the most recent generations is difficult to say.
Certainly, if the world divides itself along religious lines and factions, and goes to war, this process will be much hastened.
If enough time passes, India will surpass the United States, just for the sheer volume of workers, as it is rapidly, if hasn't already grown the largest population on the planet.
China might still hold the record, though.
I think it also depends on how you define "Superpower".

The US should have no desire to cling to 'sole superpower' status or 'leader of the free world' come to that.
As has been said, it does depend how you define superpower, but either way, one of many is much more desireable than the wieghty responsibility placed in a very few hands. Checks and balances all the way!

I am beginning to wonder if it is even possible. I think GW's Reign of Terror has become the beginning of the fall of our nation.
