I was born there and lived there while we were growing up before movin to england when i was 8,I am in my teens and g out with my friends when i go and visit them and i have an older sister who used to regularly go out with her friends to clubs and still does when she goes to see our family.
It is safe as long as you follow the same safety things that you would in this country e.g. Beware of people spiking drinks, dont walk alone in the dark, and don't get into a car with strangers. The same stuff applies really. Its perfectly safe!!! Go and have a good time, its an amazing country and 99% of the people are really welcoming and friendly =) xx

Depends what you think is a hazard. The military coup has made no difference to the majority of Thais and its business as usual. There were a few bombs on New Years Eve but nothing since. Bangkok is no more dangerous than London or Madrid for bombing I guess.
There is caution about Southern Thailand due to internal unrest and tourists are advised against travel in Yala district or near the Malaysia border.
Otherwise its the sensible advise you get for travelling in a foreign country. There is more crime in the big cities and you are more likely to be charmed out of your money than robbed. Go outside the big centres and the whole place feels safer than many rural countries.
I feel safer in Thailand than in England.

Considering a full load of tourists landing at Bangkok airport every few minutes every day of the year, what do you think?

If it is not safe, why would so many tourists be going to Thailand?

As long as you keep some common sense about travelling and personal security, you will be fine. Bad things do happen but MOST of them happenned because people either didn't plan ahead, didn't do some basic research of what to expect or simply took silly risks.

Safe enough for families to visit too. As long as you avoid the southern provinces.

Depends what part you go to. My dad went to phuket and lived there for six months and loved it. He's hoping to return later this year. And even plans to live there when he retires.
