Should it be policy that only those willing to donate an organ be the only ones to get one if they need it.

You do not have to be in perfect health to give the gift of sight and many aspects of donation, even being willing to donate your body to science. The point is should one who is selfish be able to take advantage of those will to be selfless.

It is meant to be a morality question, more than a mdeical one doctor if you care to re-read the question.

i think it should be an opting out rather than opting in scheme, most people think its a good idea but dont make it clear to their families and when a decision has to be made its an emotional one, opting out means the people who dont want it would definately make their feelings known, giving someone else a chance of a better life when u r gone is a wonderful thing but hard for a grieving family to make the choice

I don't think so. This is an ethical question. It is like trying to figure out how to rank people on the organ donor list. If a murderer (hypothetically) has been on the donor list for 2 years, but say your mother or father needs the organ today...what do you do? Most people would choose to give the organ to your family member right? But who gives us the right to pick one person or the other? What makes it more ethical to give the organ to one person over the other?

No. You cannot condemn someone for such a selfish proclamation. They may be donated an organ and become a valuable member of society, they may learn the value of organ donation when they are fortunate enough to get one themselves. I say no. Keep them on the list, allow chance for growth.

no, an organ recipient does not need to be an organ donor to recieve an organ, and as somebody correctly pointed out, when one is a candidate for transplant, it probably means he is too ill to donate...

No, they are probably too ill to donate organs or have incurred illness that makes them ineligible.
