sure sounds that way....there may be something in it that you are allergic to...if you had trouble breathing, then you need to try to identify the source...see if you can find out if there is anything common to both beverages and then avoid that at all costs....if there isn't anything then it could have been something else that you ate or drank that nite and not the bailys or archers....you should see a doc and get tested for allergens ....if you are exposed again, the reaction will be worse and can actually be life threatening...see your doctor...good luck

Bailey's is a mixture that contains a lot of different ingredients, any of which you could have gotten an allergic reaction. As far as being allergic to alcohol, it is not an uncommon allergy condition. Even light alcohol consumption can bother those that do have allergies to alcohol. If this has happened to you more than once, I would say that there is a good chance that you have this condition. The symptoms you mentioned are definitely an allergy reaction. Do some personal research, or better yet talk it over with an allergist. Some people are allergic to the sulfates in wine; then, there are some that are allergic to not all wine, but specific grapes from specific areas. If it is drinks made with mixtures, find out what the mixtures contain. It could be the mixture contents could be your problem and not the alcohol. To rule out what's causing the reaction, try staying with simple beer in small amounts and see if the alcohol content in the beer causes allergies. You may have to refrain from alcohol. It is a known cause of allergic reactions in many people.

There are many chemicals added to wine beers and mixers , even liqueurs these days that can cause allergic responses in some people. Tannin is a common factor in allergies that gives rise to respiratory distress in some people.
It is not the alcohol itself it is often the additives in the alcohol that cause the problem.
Once you have had a reaction to a particular type of drink avoid it in the future as the second time around the situation can be worse and even lead to anaphalactic shock. That is something you definitely don't want to happen as death can result if it is untreated in time

Alcohol itself is too small and too simple to trigger a true allergic (as in immune mediated) reaction. But you can certainly be sensitive to any of a number of chemicals found in various liqueurs. What you've described sounds like a massive histamine release; which can occur with or without a true allergic reaction, but can be dangerous in any event.

You can be allergic to certain kind of alcoholic drinks but specially Baileys should not be mixed with any other fizzy drink or refreshment. I hope you did not drink any before or just after it.

yep.u certainly can get allergic reactions to alcohol...most people get hives from red wine and similar drinks but depending on the person it varies as to which drinks trigger a reaction..if you find a drink that agrees with your system then stick with it!!
