what would it be like if you have to jump from a plane really high in the sky?

It would be quite unpleasant. Special Forces parachute jumpers are trained to jump from extreme altitudes .. temperatures at 30000 feet plus will be around -50 c and a lack of oxygen means that even with an oxygen supply for the descent the jumper has to pre-oxyginate (breath 100 % oxygen) for up to 30 minutes before they jump. Passing through cloud could involve the body icing up ... hence the usual procedure is HALO ... high altitude low opening .. to minimise the time in the air.

The most eerie part of it all is that there is no sensation of falling, as there is no air resistance therefore no noise, and because you are so far up the clouds do not appear to be moving towards you, so you would feel like you were suspended in mid air even though you were falling at a few hundred miles per hour.
Its not until you get a bit lower that the air starts to rush past and you actually slow down that you feel like you are falling!
Its amazing to think that this guy jumped off a balloon at over 3 times the hight of Everest way back in 1960.

The highest recorded ejection escape from an aircrft is in the order of 200,000ft by a pilot in an American spy plane. The temperature at that height can be worked out by the aidiabatic lapse rate (spelling not sure) which states that temperature drops by 3 degrees for every 1000ft of rise. Therefore, if the temp. is 20 degrees at ground level, you have reached the absolute zero of space. Secondly, take terminal velocity, an average human body will fall at 120mph which aquates to 1000ft of fall in 8 secs. From 200,000ft it would have been a sky-dive of over 26 mins.

Very cold if you didn't have special gear on. By the way... There are special military groups that perform just such jumps. They are called HALO jumps and are used to insert special forces deep into enemy territory. These are usually done at night and they skydive all the way down and parachute near the end so as to reduce exposure to enemy fire. Some navy guys actually do this over H2O with a tiny chute that they deploy very late just to slow down a bit before diving int the drink. They then swim underwater to their target and complete their mission. Cool stuff, isn't it. jason

Fun.There was a Col. Joe Kittenger,that jumped from a Baloon at a great height of 108,000 ft.,having the longest free fall in history.I do know he broke many records including fastest human though the atmosphere attaining a speed of 614 miles a hour..His parachute deployed and made history.

You'd get cold and have trouble breathing and you'd probably die
of hypoxia before you got low enough to breathe. The highest
clouds are cirrus and are so high that you couldn't fall fast
enough to reach breatheable air in time.

cold, wet, and less oxygen, depending on how high up we are talking about. it will be wet because clouds are made up of condensed water vapor, cold because every 1000 feet up you go, it will get 2 degrees C colder, and there is less oxygen the further up you go. and plus you are going to fall at 9.81 m/s (meters per second) for every second that you fall due to the gravitational accelleration of earth.

You would probably be jumping above Alto-Cirrus clouds - the experince would be very cold, and very very windy as you sped up and reached your terminal velocity as you are plummeting towards the ground! You may either freeze or suffocate if you didn't have the right clothing or equipment on.

The most incredible thing you could want to do. You will fall about 120 mph. so the ride wont last long. When you are safely on the ground you will think one of two things. That was incredible and I have to do that again. or That was incredible and I will never do that again.
