my kitten was recently sick and had to have an IV. Since the IV he has stopped drinking water. Now his litter box habits have changed although he has been eating. Can IV cause this to happen? How long can a kitten be ok without using his liter box? I have started giving him water with a dropper. He was also spayed a week ago Wednesday.

sounds like he's bee through the wringer a bit! poor old puss. It might be he is well hydrated without drinking, but a vet check up wouldn't go a miss

This is not normal in a cat that just had surgery and who was sick. Cats can't go long without using the litter box. Don't let this go on long and I mean take him into the vet asap. I'm glad that he is eating and it is a REALLY good thing that you are giving him water if he won't drink it himself. Please call your vet and tell him what is going on with your cat. I don't think the IV has anything to do with that. How long has he gone without using the litter box? Please just call your vet. This is a major concern. I really hope your cat gets better but you have to be the one to help him. Good Luck!

I'd definitely pay a visit to the Vet again, if only to be re-assured that everything is okay.

Is he eating wet or dry food? He may be getting enough fluid from the wet food depending on his size and how much he is eating.

I hope he will be well again soon!

My kitty is 16 this year and she's much better than she has been but she is seeing the Vet this Monday evening for her regular check up.
