A friend asked for my opinion on a Japanese water filter that produces alkaline ionized water. I am VERY skeptical that purified water can have any effect on health, unless your tap water contains pollutants. I mean, the acidity of the stomach is fairly well regulated and will probably negate the effects of something like this (won't it?).

The thing is, she is very convinced. I don't want to be rude to her, but I want to tell her that there is no scientific basis (is there?). How can I do this in a tactful way? Or should I give this water filter a chance?

I'm aware of a lot of info on alkalinity/acidity in the body. Do a search for acidosis and you'll come up with a list of medical symptoms of it such as: tiredness, fatigue, headaches, joint pains, digestive complaints, and even cancer...they've found cancer grows quicker in acidic environments than alkaline.

I used alkalizing powders that are added to waer and get good results with them for these health issues.Maybe be open to it and use intelligent evaluation rather than 100% being closed or 100% accepting.
