If God were to come to you right now and said to you, I give you a choice take your child and sacrifice him/her to prove to me you believe in me would you do it. Do you believe that strongly that you would be able to do it. This time it did happen and there was no "lamb". How do you feel. Do you still think you did the right thing. If you say God has his reasons, is this enough. Was it worth the sacrifice to you to enter the kingdom of heaven. Do you live the rest of your days in hapiness knowing you will enter heaven even though your child is gone from the here and now.

OK -lol, bad grammar I admit. But that's just avoidance of the question isn't it.

For the curious, I am a coward to and I can honestly say I couldn't do it does that mean I have no faith. I would believe in GOD because he is in front of me and that is all I ask but I would not have the faith, the heart or the will to do that so where would that leave me.

David you say God is just and that no reasonable person could see that GOD would ask this, but he did. He asked Abraham to do that and yes maybe he did not follow through with it but he asked him. You said " It is not reasonable by any stretch, even in theory, that one would have another sacrifice a child." He did sacrifice the first born of every Egyptian child do you consider this just. Anyone with half a brain can see that there is no reason for that but we reason it by saying that God knows what he is doing.

The Kingdom of God's reality is not that of ours. So your entire statement is not only a waste of time, thought, and or energy. Yet, it is completely inadequate.

God rules with justice. I do not believe anyone with a half a brain could ever figure there to be a just cause behind "sacrificing" a child for anyone or thing. God has his reasons for things. But, these reasons are simply that. REASONS.

It is not reasonable by any stretch, even in theory, that one would have another sacrifice a child.

You get to play the game day by day. You get a chance to build on a relationship. That to God is where the proof is. Not to mention, unlike you or I. God KNOWS the HEART of MAN. Thus, he knows when you truly believe and when you are just simply making noise.

well Abraham did it. And God the Father did it. I am unfortunate not to have enough faith to do it but I'm a coward anyway.

But very good question. but you can not be judge and jury or a persons faith.

Very hypothetical - don't you think ? This question fails to serve objectively WHO God is and limits Him. If you came to know God, He would never give you nor I, this charge !

I can't think of a question for which this would be the answer.

At least, not the kind of question a sane person would ask.

I would think it was Satan. God doesn't require sacrifices, ever since he sacrificed his son for my sins.

I think the desicion of letting me kill my child in the name of God would be your's and not God's... Don't you agree?
