3 lb + 1/2 Brick = 1 Brick
3 lb = 1 Brick - 1/2 Brick = 1/2 Brick
Therefore 1/2 Brick = 3 lb
1 + 1/2 = 3 Halves = 9 lb
If 1 man can lay a brick in 20 seconds, it must hurt like hell.

Myavatara's correct. If a brick weighs 3 pounds plus half a brick, that means 3 pounds must equal half a brick (the other half). So if 3 pounds equals half a brick one and a half bricks is three times this or 9 pounds.
