Hi, I live in Melbourne, Australia and would like to get a mobile phone that can both display and input Chinese hanzi (using pinyin). Is this possible without going to China?

Look around Chinatown (Little Bourke Street/Russel Street, City) or in other shopping areas where a lot of Chinese Melburnians live (Box Hill, Springvale, Footscray) and ask in a phone shop there. I'm sure you get what you want in Melbourne.

The Nokia N73 which I'm using can display both English, traditional or simplified Chinese. So as other brands like Motorola, you just need to change the language setting of the phone.
