It depends. I will love my son till the day I die, no matter what. I love my husband and have for almost 17 years now. Sometimes we don't like eachother very much but we still love eachother. I love my mother and sisters even though we don't always get along either. So yes, certain kinds of love can last forever.

The way you visualize and compare love with eating, happy, sad etc. having limit and an eventual end or expiry; love also could fall into that category for you. After-all, everything depends on various factors and its duration also prevail accordingly.

When I was much younger, me and my friends believed that only 3 things would last forever--death, taxes, and The Beatles.
Love is not linear. It is multi-dimensional, undivided and spaceless, thus defined more in the realm of Quantum Physics than in one-dimensional Geometry.

If your heart is true, and you feel completely...love can survive alot. I am not going to say that love will overcome EVERYTHING, but love and respect will overcome alot.
I think that love does last forever...it may change form i.e. from friend to boyfriend or boyfriend to friend but if you feel it, that's all that matters
