why do old women usually have short permed hair. i don't get it. who actually likes it?

Not me. But it is a fad for them just like our hair is for us. And who are we to judge? I am sure they think thesame of young womens hair. Oh and it's like thatbecause it is easy to manage, I am guessing.

From what I know, there are 3 reasons. 1) Women are told from about the age of 40 that they should wear their hair short (more appropriate or some such BS, 2) many women's hair stops growing to the lengths it did when they were younger, so a short style is easier than trying to force a style their hair just won't do anymore, and 3) many women, when they get older, go for convenience and easy styling....

haha, how weird ! I was reading about this the other day. The general opinion is that this (ugly) hair style is easier for them to maintain, and it's just a social norm, really.
Old women are suckered into it.
"You are a certain age, you will have THIS hairstyle."
Human beings are unimaginative, as a whole. Plus when you're old I spose you don't really give much of a sh!t about looking nice any more. Whatever's easy !

O my gosh! I was thinking about that the other day! Ewww, old ladies hair is so nasty, but most of them would look bad with long hair. Okay picture this: your grandma... with pamela anderson's hair
I guess the short permes look is ok for old ladies to have after picturing that!

I've asked my grandmother, and she said because of her arthritis she likes to keep it short, where she doesn't have to spend time brushing out tangles.

It's easy to maintain and wash. Most are not flattering but who cares when your over seventy anyway?

as one grows older their hair thins out among other unfortunate things that happen to them.. so in order to make look thick and easy to manage they do what they do.
