A wise man speaks little.
First and foremost.
A silent person does not mind being in a social setting.
A shy person minds being in a social setting.
I have been both and I prefer being silent. Simply because the less I speak the less people know about me honestly. This leaves me as a mystery and thus without really trying I am then an interesting person.
Not to mention, that while everyone else is moving their mouths 1000 miles a second. One can and will gain much more wisdom listening to the conversation rather then just conversing whilst still thinking of the next thing to say while the other person(s) are speaking.
The mind is a more powerful tool when you take the time to listen to everything and then draw your own conclusion.

While a quiet person is quiet, a shy person could be the most talkative person ever but is shy which is keeping them from being talkative.
I am shy myself, but once I am in a comfortable setting I talk till the day ends.

Shy is the place you're afraid to talk up, ask for help, on an identical time as quiet is the place you prefer to pay attention so lots better than you communicate. Quietness may additionally label physique language, you at the instant are not ambitious and loud, you're quiet and laid lower back.

I'm both. A quiet person is just someone who doesn't talk much, but a shy person is usually someone who doesn't like to be the center of attention or who likes to observe people more than interact with them. A shy person doesn't like to put themselves out for others to see unless they are comfortable because they've known them for a while.

I have been both. When I was shy it was because I was afraid of everyone's opinion of me, I thought everyone was cooler, and I got very embarrassed when trying to talk - stammering, turning red, etc.
Now if I can be quiet at times, but it's usually because I think the other person is really stupid or boring and I just don't care to hear the things they will say back.

A quiet person dont really enjoy talking, he/she is mor eof a listener. He/She chooses ot be that way. A shy person is simply to self conscious to do something especially in presence of others (could be talking, singing, dancing etc...) so he/she held herself back.

Quiet people "choose" not to talk wheras shyness is more of a social thing. You can't be shy around yourself
