the truth is that "Braies" a baggy undergarment is worn under the kilt.
though its also true that In the past A warrior when going into battle in spring or summer may go without as packing a lot of clean Braies in his kit would be difficult.

Nothing, remember Braveheart, Mel Gibson and crew moon the enemy.
Laurel comes to New York wearing a kilt. He steps on one of the vents and the kilt flies up like Marilyn Monroe's. And a guy says, ' This dame ain't wearing no lingerie'.
Then in Fifth Estate, Samuel L.Jackson is on the plane wearing one. This girl (assassin) drops something and bends down to have a look. But an air hostess comes in front.

I have always heard that nothing should be worn under a kilt except if you are parading in front of the Queen.

Civilians wear underwear (most of them anyway). In the army however, Scottish regiments have different rules. Some allow it, but most don't.
I was in a Scottish regiment in Canada, mine forbade it.

Traditionally, nothing. I've never confirmed this though whenever I've seen a bloke wearing one.
