do you find that you resist bettering that relationship.. because when that relationship moves towards the 'better mark' that they are thanking Jesus that you came around and that he is working in your life and relationship... I am going through this with my mom and it just makes me just want to give up... the progress between us is not an miracle.. it is because of her backing off and my self growth as a person. Would you want to just give up when they praise the Lord that you 'are coming around'

I had a similar situation with a family member. It went on for some time until my self growth & self preservation became the most important factor.

After a long time in a stalemate situation I realised the relationship was not enhancing my life & ceased all contact.. that was 9 years ago.

Do you mean like when I am telling about something I have done in my life and one of my family members tells me I was doing the "only Christian thing" I could do, in spite of not being a Christian and far from it?

Yes, I hate it. I've gotten many a Christian family member tell me that they think I am "coming around" simply because I am being friendly to them. They don't get it that it is because I left Christianity that I have become more tolerate.

Remember that your Mother has probably spent a lot ot time worrying about you, and comitted it to prayer. Do not be offended, but look at it from her point of view, and perhaps stop and think, Is there a God, and did he help. Remember, and this is not preaching, but to A believer, he is there to help. Seek him and you too may find him and his love for you. May you have a wonderful life ahead of you.

I would ask her not to thank him in front of me, its just rude and patronizing. She may think its a miracle but shes being a bit of a Pharisee flaunting her faith in public to you.
